It's that time again! The buds are unfolding, the daffodils and dandelions are coloring the lawn, the air is cozy warm, and the veggies and herbs are aching to hug some worms. It's planting time! Here's a thrifty idea to consider: regrow your vegetable scraps.
It’s simple: after using the top of a vegetable, take the base that you would normally discard and place it in a container or pot with about half an inch of water. Change the water daily. You can either let it continue growing in the water or transfer it to soil, indoors or outdoors.
Try regrowing:
Celery, Lettuce, Fennel, Pumpkin, Green Onions, Cilantro, Peppers, Avocado, Turnips, Basil, Garlic, Onion, Potato, Mushrooms, Ginger, Turmeric, Lettuce, Pineapple, Bell Peppers, and many others.
